Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a Business Analyst for an initial 18 month contract on a rate of £50,000/annum. This role will be hybrid working.
Responsibilities:
- Elicit, analyse and document business needs taking a ‘best fit’ approach to analysis tools and methods, appropriate to the context and pace of delivery.
- Translate business requirements into clear, structured artifacts that support delivery teams such as ‘As-is / to-be’ process models, Options analysis, Impact assessment, User Stories, Acceptance criteria and System wireframing.
- Work across multiple concurrent projects covering business process redesign, system replacement and system enhancement (internal and external systems) with ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities in a reactive environment.
- Build strong, trusted relationships through clear and confident facilitation of workshops, interviews and informal discussions with a wide range of business and technical stakeholders to understand issues and develop solutions.
- Proactively manage your workload and priorities across projects to meet deliverables, escalating risks and issues appropriately as required.
- Work closely with the Digital Product Team to clarify requirements, negotiate and agree solution design, co-ordinate acceptance testing and support delivery.
- Recommend system improvements and controls by studying current practices, understanding business objectives and proposing solutions.
- Monitor project progress including tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing progress reports and recommending actions.
- Design and develop test plans for executing unit, integration, system or acceptance testing in order to ensure the solution meets the business requirements.
- Support the continuous improvement of the BA ways of working, contributing to emerging standards while remaining flexible to immediate delivery needs.
- Provide support for business systems by providing user documentation, providing early lifecycle support and training users.
Essential Skills:
- Business Analysis (Foundation)
- Good knowledge of business analysis techniques and processes (inc Workshopping, Process Modelling and User Stories)
- Good knowledge base in IT hardware, software, database
- Software testing experience – able to design and develop test plans for system and UAT
- Training strategy creation
- Writing and maintaining user documentation, providing help desk support and training users
- Cardi Log Management
- Ability to gather business requirements from multiple sources, prioritising needs to agree appropriate requirement documentation
- Collaborating with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyse trade-offs between usability and performance
- Good project management skills
- Analytical and problem solving skills; can think outside the box
- Customer service ethic
- Strong communication skills – both written (reports, procedures) and verbal (presenting proposals to variety of audiences, facilitating workshops involving technical and non-technical people)
- Strong organisational skills, able to co-ordinate workload to liaise with external providers and satisfy internal customers
