Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a Business Analyst for an initial 3 month contract on a rate of £500/day (Inside IR35).
Responsibilities:
- Engage and support Business Stakeholders to develop an understanding of business needs and objectives requiring a technology solution.
- Develop a deep functional understanding of core solutions in the IT Estate.
- Assist in the production of detailed requirements from a functional and non-functional perspective.
- Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, and task and workflow analysis.
- Develop Requirements Specifications to agreed templates.
- Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and decompose high level information into detailed requirements.
- Challenge Business Units on their assumptions and distinguish requests from the underlying needs of the business.
- As assigned, develop, and maintain a detailed knowledge of key business processes and systems (for example Back Office Services).
- Where appropriate, create and maintain functional test plans.
- Support the business in developing user test plans.
Essential Skills:
- Previous experience working in a business analyst/systems analyst role
- Previous experience in similar customer-facing role working closely with business customers to develop technology-based solutions
- Experience of working closely with IT Suppliers who provide 3rd party solutions.
- Experience of defining requirements and system configurations based on user requirements
- Previous use of Use Cases and Sequence diagrams, User Stories
- Previous knowledge of eliciting requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, and task and workflow analysis.
- Ability to facilitate workshops and define scope of change and requirements based on process, people, and technology lenses
- Ability to Document “as-is” and “to-be” processes in a structured format
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with an ability to build strong relationships at all levels
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills
- Solutions-focused with excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills

Desirable Skills:
- Previous experience of any public-sector organisation
- General knowledge of business applications and packages used (technologies could include Dynamics, Teams, O365, Power BI Reporting, Agresso, SharePoint applications etc.)
