As the energy sector evolves rapidly, they’re actively engaged in Ofgem’s Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS) Programme – a key industry initiative aimed at improving settlement accuracy and enabling a smarter, more flexible electricity system.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Business Analyst to join the MHHS Programme team. The successful candidate will support the end-to-end delivery of business and system changes required for MHHS compliance and strategic benefits realisation. This role involves working closely with stakeholders across the organisation and externally, including industry bodies and delivery partners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Elicit, analyse, and document business requirements for MHHS-related changes across systems, processes, and data flows.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with regulatory and programme-wide requirements.
- Develop as-is and to-be process maps and data models to support design decisions.
- Facilitate workshops and meetings with SMEs, product owners, technical teams, and industry representatives.
- Support impact assessments, gap analyses, and readiness reviews.
- Contribute to the production of business cases, user stories, functional specifications, and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with project managers, test teams, and third-party vendors to ensure timely delivery of MHHS-related workstreams.
- Track and manage risks, issues, and dependencies relating to business analysis deliverables.
- Stay up to date with MHHS programme updates, regulatory communications, and industry consultations.
- Support change governance, assurance, and programme reporting as required.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst within the utilities or energy sector.
- Strong understanding of the UK energy market, specifically settlement processes and market roles (e.g., Supplier, DCC, Elexon).
- Familiarity with Ofgem’s MHHS Programme objectives, timelines, and TOM.
- Excellent requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience with business process modelling (e.g., BPMN) and data analysis.
- Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable business changes.
- Proficient in tools such as Jira, Confluence, Visio, Excel, and requirements management platforms.
- Strong analytical thinking, communication, and facilitation skills.
Desirable:
- Experience working on smart metering, settlement systems, or regulatory-driven change programmes.
- Knowledge of Agile, SAFe, or hybrid project delivery frameworks.
- IIBA or BCS certification (or working towards).
- Awareness of data governance, privacy, and security principles.
