Your Career

This is an excellent starting point for someone looking to build a long-term career in technical compliance, audit and governance. You’ll gain direct experience in a central function that supports regulatory readiness, risk reduction, and business improvement across the organisation. As the function grows and matures, there will be opportunities to gain further experience across other areas including risk, software assurance, or environmental specialisms.

Your Team

The Business Assurance team is at the heart of ensuring MHR meets its legal, regulatory, and best practice obligations. We work across the business to promote good governance, manage risk, and deliver robust internal audit and compliance programmes. With current challenges including SOC 2, ISO standards, and evolving environmental commitments, you’ll be joining at a pivotal moment - playing an important part in safeguarding the business while developing your own professional capabilities.

Your Impact

As a Business Compliance Officer (Technical), you will ensure the organisation’s digital operations meet regulatory and internal standards by overseeing compliance frameworks, managing risk, and driving continuous improvement. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and monitor technology-driven processes, conduct audits, maintain accurate documentation, and support governance activities. Your role will be key in identifying non-compliance risks, leading investigations, and ensuring robust controls are in place to safeguard data, systems, and business integrity.

What you’ll bring to the role and MHR

While this is an entry-level role and not a mature position, we do expect candidates to bring some prior experience to support their success. We require you to have had, and be able to provide evidence of, exposure to business assurance, compliance, audit, or risk-related activities, whether through previous roles, internships, or academic projects. Ideally, this experience should include working with technical information systems, IT compliance, or IT audit. Exposure to regulatory frameworks, information security standards (such as ISO27001, SOC2, or GDPR), or technology-driven controls is highly desirable. This experience will provide a foundational understanding of regulatory frameworks, internal controls, and governance processes, enabling you to quickly contribute to the team while continuing to develop your technical expertise.

Please note this is an on-site role and will be majority office based in Ruddington (NG11 6JS).

In this role you will

• Oversee and maintain business assurance frameworks, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and collaborating with stakeholders to uphold compliance.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to non-compliance, developing proactive strategies to safeguard business operations.
• Conduct regular audits, support internal and external audit activities, and contribute to governance processes through accurate documentation and collaboration.
• Implement and manage business process changes, regularly review procedures, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain and update operational procedures, policies, and compliance records to ensure clarity, consistency, and accessibility.
• Lead investigations as required, performing root cause analysis to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
• Provide evidence for the above activities both internally and externally to compliance standards such as SOC2, GDPR, BACS, ISO9001 & ISO27001.
