We are currently looking for Business Development Managers with solid experience of selling workplace personal pension services, or similar financial products into the SME or Enterprise B2B2C distribution.
The role will involve lead generation and cold calling prospective clients to set up initial meetings and demonstrations of our workplace pensions product. You will then be expected to meet clients and complete the sales cycle and close deals. Sometimes this will be with the Delivery Director or Head of Distribution for Thrive, but more frequently you will complete this key task alone. The BDM will also report client feedback into the product team to assist in product improvement and ensuring good product market fit.
This role is ideal for an ambitious, sales development professional who wants to be involved with the growth of a new financial services product from the ground up and is comfortable working in ambiguous, fast paced, start-up environments.
This role offers growth and progression opportunities into a Senior or Executive Business Development Manager.
Key Accountabilities
- Generate leads for outbound cold contacting. Target Corporate Clients who meet our Ideal Client Profile (ICP) using lead- generation tools such as Apollo, LinkedIn Navigator, Zoominfo and Beauhurst amongst others.
- Maintain and build relationships with C-Suite level contacts and/or senior HR and finance roles within new ICP Corporate Clients via all available mediums (telephone, email, video call and face to face).
- Own and manage the complete sales cycle from lead generation, to initial meeting to demonstration through to deal closure and drafting contracts.
- Leverage your existing network of contacts within prospective Corporate Clients to open up new distribution channels for Blackfinch outside of our ICP.
- Provide a regular feedback loop between Corporate Clients and the Product Management team to ensure market needs are being incorporated into product design to ensure best Product Market Fit.
- Keep Corporate Clients up to date with our products literature, practices and procedures providing high standards of customer service and technical support.
- Seek out opportunities to host seminars, webinars and similar events to enable Blackfinch to reach the widest relevant audience possible to ensure maximum awareness in the marketplace across target Corporate Clients.
- Involvement in campaigns by following the company’s objectives and activity expectations.
- Maintain accurate records on the CRM and ensure that records of contact and key information is kept up to date.
- To seek out ways to improve knowledge, skills and processes by following a set training plan that includes benchmarks such as gaining further qualifications and generating product presentations to be shared.
- To champion the defined contribution workplace personal pension platform aspect of the business.
- Being a mentor to the future BDM and Lead Generation Manager team member who will join the team.

Desirable Experience
- Previous sales and working to KPI’s along with evidence of working in a fast paced targeted environment.
- Experience of selling workplace personal pension services, or similar financial products into the SME or Enterprise B2B2C distribution channel
- An understanding of good customer outcomes.
- Good understanding of the Financial Services Industry, and workplace personal pensions in particular.
- Previous face to face customer experience.
- Previous presenting experience

Essential Qualifications and Requirements
- Degree educated in business, finance or similar subjects or possess equivalent experience.
- Must hold or be prepared to sit and pass R01/CF1 qualification immediately upon appointment.
- Must be prepared to travel and meet clients regularly.
- Highly committed and motivated.
- You will have access to a vehicle and hold business insurance.
