Purpose of the role
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving growth within target market segments in the designated sales region (north or south). The incumbent will be expected to become an expert in the segments, understanding the market drivers, processes and applications as well as the relevant Busch Group vacuum solutions. Growth targets will be defined and achieved by implementing defined market strategies designed to grow our solutions and service business, working in conjunction with applications specialists as required. In addition, the job holder will collaborate closely with relevant Customer Solutions teams, to ensure that “A, B and C” customers in the target segments are well supported.
This role requires an individual who is capable of taking a strategic approach to business development. They will have the technical ability to help customers understand and select the Busch Group solutions that best meet their needs, and the commercial acumen to secure new business in a complex decision-making environment. They will be responsive, active in the field and strong advocates of the tools, processes and techniques that enable best practice strategic selling. They will also be team players, determined to maximise the power of the UK and global organisation to ensure customers receive the best possible experience.
This is a challenging but rewarding role that will make an important contribution as the business grows to £100m sales/year and becomes the #1 vacuum solutions provider in the UK.
Main Tasks
1. Secure business growth with target segments in the designated sales region in line with agreed targets
2. Ensure the needs of customers in their region are met, in conjunction with the Customer Solution teams
3. Support other market groups with sales opportunities in the case they can offer relevant contacts, experience or geographical presence
Essential Skills
• Demonstrated complex sales capability, covering service and solutions
• Wide knowledge of Busch Group offerings
• Good communications skills, externally and across internal teams, whether in person, by Teams or in writing
• Proficient with C4Hana, Korn Ferry and other digital applications, and with the understanding of how to leverage them to ensure best possible sales outcomes
• Sufficient technical knowledge to understand and explain applicable customer processes and applications
• Business Development experience with end users in at least one of the following sectors:
- automotive
- aerospace
- composite material manufacture
- renewable energy production
Desirable Skills
• Experience of systems design, project management and developing cost estimates
• Knowledge of marketing processes
• Proficient with Microsoft products
(Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Minimum Educational Level Required for the Role
Degree in business or relevant technical subject or equivalent through experience
