The Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen to join a strategically important and growing part of the WG&S Group, focused on driving long term value through targeted investment in adjacent sectors. As a Business Development Manager within the Group’s Investment Arm, you will play a key role in evaluating new opportunities, shaping capital allocation decisions, and working closely with senior leadership and the Board. This role is well suited to a commercially astute investment professional who combines strong analytical capability with sound judgement and is comfortable operating within a developing, high autonomy environment.
What you will be doing
You will be responsible for developing the financial analysis, valuation work, and commercial research that underpin investment decisions across the Group. This will include building robust financial models, leading elements of due diligence, and supporting negotiations on valuation, structure, and governance matters. You will produce clear, well structured materials for senior stakeholders and Board consideration, ensuring recommendations are supported by clear commercial rationale.
In addition, you will work closely with senior stakeholders to progress business development initiatives and will support the ongoing oversight of minority investments, monitoring performance against investment cases and advising on capital requirements, risks, and value-creation opportunities. You will also contribute to the development of the Investment Arm’s strategic planning, budgeting, and analytical frameworks, helping to strengthen decision-making and capital allocation over time.
About You
You will bring strong financial and analytical capability, supported by a background in accountancy, investment banking, corporate development, private equity, or a related investment environment, with approximately 6–8 years’ relevant experience. You will be a clear and confident communicator, comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders and operating independently on complex, ambiguous projects.
The role will suit someone with experience working with minority investments and governance structures, and who is accustomed to engaging with Board level or investment committee discussions. Experience within a family office or similar investment environment would be advantageous, as would familiarity with investments in green energy or consumer focused sectors such as spirits markets. A demonstrated ability to contribute effectively within a developing function, where processes and precedent continue to evolve, will be important for success in the role.
