We are looking for a Business Development Manager for North Europe (x|f|m) to join the Business Development EMEA team. In this role, you will be responsible for driving strategic business growth in the biopharma and biotech sectors across Northern Europe by identifying untapped opportunities, establishing strategic partnerships, and accelerating market penetration in emerging segments and academic networks. By evaluating market potential and identifying key business opportunities, the Business Development Manager develops & maintains relationships with prospects partners and supports Field Account Manager in negotiating and closing strategic deals.

The team currently consists of eleven professionals across EMEA, and we are looking forward to shaping the future with you. This position is available for full-time and can be home based in Germany (Sartorius Stedim Biotech GmbH), UK or France.

  • Evaluate market potential and map the Northern European biotech ecosystem to identify key opportunities in biopharma, advanced therapies, and academia
  • Develop and implement tailored business development strategies to acquire new customers and grow Sartorius’ presence in underdeveloped or emerging markets
  • Create and execute business development strategies and plans, reaching out to potential customers through various prospecting efforts (emails, calls, visits, conferences, demos etc.) to increase our customer base
  • Establish and nurture strategic relationships with academia, research institutes, biotech start-ups, and industry stakeholders to accelerate adoption of Sartorius technologies
  • Qualify and prioritize leads based on needs and fit, presenting our value proposition for products or services
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and support for business initiatives, including support in negotiating contracts and agreements to close deals achieving revenue and market share goals
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with current and potential customers, partners, and other stakeholders
  • Identify and establish collaboration with local key opinion leaders, industry associations, and ecosystem partners in the prospective markets to to strengthen Sartorius’ visibility and credibility in the region
  • Analyze sales data and performance metrics (e.g. lead interests, opportunities, contacts) to track performance of the business development activities, and evaluating and improving the business development best practices
  • Actively use SFDC to manage and document leads, contacts and opportunities, all customer interactions and sales activities ensuring that all customer and opportunity information is up-to-date and accurately entered in the CRM system
  • Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks within the Northern European region

What will convince us

  • You have an academic degree in the field of life sciences, engineering, business administration, or related field
  • You have several years professional experience in business development, sales or field marketing, with preferable lab experience, within the life science or biopharma sector
  • Good network and strong understanding of the Northern European market landscape, combined with process understanding, including academia and biotech start-ups
  • Strong knowledge of business and sales growth techniques coupled with a focused interest in markets & technologies that are yet to be developed
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with ability to independently lead projects and initiatives
  • Excellent communication, influencing , negotiation and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multicultural and international environment
  • Proficiency in English (additional Northern European languages are a plus)
  • Willingness to travel (approx. 50%) as needed within the region
