Reporting to the Head of Sales and Partnerships, the Business Development Representative (BDR) will be responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying, engaging, and converting potential leads into high quality SQLs, as well as assisting the commercial team in converting these SQLs to revenue-generating clients.


You will act as a key player in promoting Natcap’s portfolio of products and services, ensuring alignment with clients’ sustainability goals while fostering long-term relationships. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong passion for sustainability and a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.


Key responsibilities:


Lead Generation and Outreach

  1. Identify and research potential clients in target markets and industries matching Natcap’s ideal customer profile, as outlined in the company GTM strategy.
  2. Conduct cold outreach, including email and social media interactions, to introduce the company’s services and solutions.


Client Engagement and Qualification

  1. Build relationships with prospective clients, understanding their sustainability goals and environmental challenges.
  2. Qualify new sales opportunities with each of the prospects.
  3. Present tailored solutions by leveraging Natcap’s sales enablement materials.


Pipeline Management

  1. Maintain an accurate and up-to-date sales pipeline within the Natcap CRM system.
  2. Follow up on leads generated through inbound channels (such as marketing campaigns, referrals and website forms) and outbound channels (such as LinkedIn, email and industry events).


Collaboration with Internal Teams

  1. Work closely with the commercial, marketing, product development, and operational teams to align prospect/client needs with product and service offerings.
  2. Provide feedback on market trends and prospect/client preferences to inform service enhancements and new offerings.


Market Research and Strategy

  1. Monitor industry trends, emerging environmental regulations, and technological advancements to identify new business opportunities.
  2. Develop and execute strategies to penetrate new markets or grow existing ones.


Proposal Development and Presentation

  1. Prepare persuasive presentations tailored to specific client needs and desired outcomes.
  2. Participate in client meetings, site visits, and industry events to present solutions and generate leads.


Performance Metrics

  1. Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
  2. Regularly report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as lead conversion rates, revenue growth, and customer acquisition costs.


Role specific requirements

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or account management, preferably in the environmental or technology sectors.
  • Experience in B2B sales in a startup environment or nascent market.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and change and ability to thrive in an early stage startup environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, sustainability practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and other sales tools.
  • Passion for sustainability and a proactive, goal-oriented mindset.
