The role
As a Business Improvement Manager, you will have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Based in a nuclear submarine facility, you will have the opportunity to lead transformative improvements across the business in the years ahead.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead and support Business Improvement Specialists within operations by coaching and enabling teams to identify, scope, plan, and deliver improvement projects. Additionally, you will:
- Manage and support stakeholders related to their project activities.
- Deliver projects through the project lifecycle eg. Concept, Definition, Deployment and Transition.
- Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.
- Proactively monitor progress, including recording, resolving, and escalating associated issues and risks.
- Plan and design the transformation/ business improvement activities aligned to a governance framework.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential Experience Of The Business Improvement Manager
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Proficiency in Project Management and Risk Management techniques (e.g. APM)
- Experience using project management tools (e.g. MS Project, Project Web App)
- Solid conceptual and hands-on knowledge of business improvement processes
- Familiarity with Process Improvement techniques (e.g. Lean, 5S, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement)
Qualifications For The Business Improvement Manager
- Degree in Engineering, Business Management, or equivalent — or extensive relevant experience
- APM Project Management Qualification or demonstrable project experience
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred (not essential)
- ILM Level 3 or equivalent qualification — or proven leadership experience

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
