Job Title: Business Manager (Chief Marketing Office)
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract – 12 months
Location: Edinburgh or Glasgow or Alderley Edge or London
Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based
Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Manager to join the Group Brand & Marketing (B&M) function, reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Royal London. The Business Manager will play a key role in supporting the CMO and guiding and informing the Brand and Marketing Leadership Team to drive the delivery of key strategic activities across the function. Working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, this role will assume responsibilities for assisting the CMO in the effective running of their Leadership Team and the wider function. The role holder will be responsible for maximising the effectiveness of the CMO with opportunity to undertake additional development activities arising from working alongside senior leaders at Royal London.
About the role:
Act as a sounding board for the CMO, supporting prioritisation and progressing activities independently.
Take a leading role in the effective running of B&M, overseeing both progress towards strategic outcomes and day-to-day activities.
Co-ordinate key B&M Leadership Team meetings, connecting the different parts of B&M, supporting the Leadership Team in staying up to date with group initiatives, and ensuring that sufficient time is spent on both forward-looking planning of the activities and day to day matters.
Work on ad hoc tasks as requested by the CMO, using initiative and liaising with relevant stakeholders across the business to achieve the desired outcome (e.g. resolution of issues, preparation of papers, summarising issues, providing ideas/suggestions for resolution).
Present information in a manner appropriate for the audience and /or application, balancing variables such as time, quality and detail.
Build effective and productive working relationship with senior stakeholders across B&M and the wider Group.
Build and maintain an effective network of internal and external contacts to provide regular input to the B&M senior leadership team meetings’ agenda and help shape and promote their priorities and actions.
About you:
Excellent organisational skills, able to work under pressure, effectively prioritising and delegating work to accomplish tasks and meet objectives
Excellent communication skills, including experience in drafting board papers, position papers, reports and other communications to final draft stage
Commercial acumen and awareness, including strong data and analytical skills
Change and culture change management experience
Strong risk awareness including the ability to identify a range of risks (commercial, legal, financial, engagement impact etc.) and apply a risk-based approach to decision making, including mitigating actions
Financial awareness and ability to track and monitor the delivery of projects
