Can you run a business like no other? St Martins House and Lodge offer high quality conferencing facilities and overnight accommodation in the centre of Leicester, right by Leicester Cathedral. We’re looking for a Business Manager to deliver good results to challenging targets year on year.
Overseeing a capable team, your main focus will be on driving new business. Alongside the hospitality business you will also manage office lets and work closely with the Cathedral and diocesan office to ensure their hospitality needs are handled effectively and that the charitable aims of the business are delivered.
Main Responsibilities
- To meet and potentially exceed targets in for bookings and profitable pricing.
- To oversee the work of the Operations Manager and ensure that facilities are well managed and maintained and customers’ expectations are met.
- To ensure a significant contribution from the trading operations to the Diocesan mission including producing robust budgets and management accounts.
- To manage staff recruitment and transition.
- To be responsible for all aspects of the performance of SMHL, reporting to the two boards as required.
- To work with relevant Diocesan and Cathedral staff to ensure that SMH, SML and Cathedral Gardens are compliant with legislation and good practice.
- To act as the senior manager within the trading operations.
Main Requirements
- Significant experience of general management and customer service delivery
- Track record of sales and marketing and how to maximise business opportunities
- Fully conversant with financial management of a business
- People focussed
- Understanding of the environment in which the business operates
- Able to work in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders
- Good understanding of marketing in a hospitality context
- Ability to increase level of business while maintaining strict cost controls
- Demonstrates empathy and understanding in the role
- Respects and has sympathy with the wider Diocesan ethos as a Christian organisation.
- Ability to arrange own transport for business needs.
