An exciting opportunity has arisen, for a full time Band 6 Business Support Manager to provide operational support to the Executive Director of People Services and Organisational Development.

Main duties of the job

This is a key role providing comprehensive and high quality business support, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic, fast paced and high-profile team, providing a highly efficient, confidential and professional business support service, ensuring the smooth running of the office of the Executive Director of People & Organisational Development and wider business of the department and overall organisation.

They will deliver an effective business support service, supporting the Executive Director to ensure their portfolio of work/activities is planned and managed effectively, taking the lead in assisting in their successful delivery.

They will work without supervision and plan, prioritise and manage complex and conflicting priority workloads whilst using their own judgement.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria

  • Educated to degree or relevant equivalent experience. Significant relevant management experience with post graduate training or qualification to at least diploma level / or equivalent experience
  • Proven technical and management experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Highly computer literate: MS Office, patient database and computer based performance management tools

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Senior clinical and/or managerial experience
  • Experience of leading business planning / monitoring processes
  • Experience of performance management, NHS / Social Services information management and delivering on relevant performance indicator targets
  • Experience of producing robust and convincing business cases
  • Experience of proactively managing revenue and capital budgets
  • Experience of managing NHS income
  • Evidence of driving and supporting service change
  • Sound knowledge of strategic objective setting
  • Leadership skills and the ability to effectively influence direct reports and senior staff
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and Complaints legislation

Desirable criteria

  • Experience in delivering service redesign using analytical tools and techniques to objectively analyse factors such as demand, capacity and activity
  • Experience of delivering complex project management tasks that span multiple organisational boundaries
  • Experience of leading complex change management processes and the current national and local mental health policy context.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of new and emerging initiatives in mental health services
