An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our Business Support Team within the Building Control Service.
The main purpose of the Building Control Service is to ensure that building work in Kirklees is carried out in compliance with current building regulations and that any potentially dangerous buildings are made safe. The service is also responsible for ensuring that Kirklees buildings meet fire safety regulations. The service comprises a number of building surveyors and a small group of business support officers.
We are looking for a self-motivated, adaptable and proactive individual to support a diverse group of internal and external customers. Strong customer care skills are essential, as well as the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Key duties will include –
- Accurate data inputting and knowledge of IT packages such Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Liaising with building surveyors and colleagues throughout the course of all your work
- Post duties, receipting and processing building regulations applications and calculating fees
- Arrange meetings and take minutes as appropriate.
- Take card payments via an automated payment system
- Undertaking searches for the Local Land Charges section
- Order, maintain and issue supplies and services via a software, SAP system
- Booking inspection requests and Reporting Dangerous Structures.
