We are looking for a proactive, organised and people-focused
Business Support Team Leader to play a key role in the smooth running and continued development of our Surrey Child & Family Health Services.
As we implement an enhanced service model and a strengthened Single Point of Access (SPA) approach across Surrey, this is an exciting time to join us. You will work closely with senior leaders to help embed and promote the SPA model, ensuring families, partners and clinicians experience a clear, coordinated and responsive route into our services.
In this leadership role, you will provide day-to-day line management to a team of administrative staff, ensuring workloads are effectively organised and that performance, attendance and appraisals are delivered to a high standard.
You will oversee administrative operations within the locality, supporting the Business Support and SPA teams to work efficiently, consistently and collaboratively to meet the needs of children, young people, families and our frontline clinical teams. Alongside your leadership responsibilities, you will maintain your own administrative workload and may provide cover within the wider Business Support team when required.
Our Business Support function is central to the success of the service, delivering high-quality organisational and administrative support across a wide range of office and service activities.
You will be part of a committed, forward-thinking team helping to shape a positive and effective experience for the families and professionals we support.
Base
The Single Point of Access function supports our Surrey-wide service, and you will be based at our Orchard House Office in Redhill, Surrey with the opportunity for hybrid working.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide effective day-to-day line management to administrative staff, including regular supervision, one-to-ones, absence management, appraisals, training and workload allocation.
- Communicate clearly, professionally and confidentially with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work closely with managers and senior practitioners to ensure statutory and service timescales are consistently met.
- Manage and action verbal and written communications, ensuring information is shared accurately and promptly.
- Represent the Business Support function at a range of meetings and contribute actively to discussions and service development.
- Use sound judgement to make decisions, identifying when issues require escalation to senior colleagues.
- Support recruitment activities, including shortlisting, interviewing and onboarding of new team members as directed by the Business Support Manager.
- Prioritise your own workload while ensuring the team’s tasks are managed effectively within a busy and fast-paced environment.
Ideal Candidate
Essential:
- Good general education to at least GCSE level or equivalent, including Maths and English.
- Qualification in supervisory or line management / relevant experience to NVQ 4 or equivalent level.
- Administrative experience in a busy, customer facing environment.
- Line management experience.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- High levels of computer literacy – to include a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages incusing Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work with discretion, sensitivity and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to prioritise and manage own workload and that of the team, in a busy environment.
- Experience of HR processes.
Desirable
- Previous health or social care experience.
- Knowledge of clinical systems or databases
