Job Description Summary:
As a member of the Operational Solutions & Delivery team under the Asset Performance department, the Instrumentation & Control Engineer will oversee the development, implementation and management of technical solutions that ensure Nadara’s Wind and Solar Plants operate according to regulatory and business requirements.
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
Development
- Develop, implement and test solutions to provide visibility and control of the plant’s electrical infrastructure
- Deliver solutions to enhance plant control capability and support the delivery of grid regulation requirements
- Review technical documentation for new plants (i.e. wind, solar PV, BESS) ensuring that operational requirements are captured in EPC and supply agreements
Maintenance and Support
- Manage regular maintenance of the plant’s I&C equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair defective equipment, utilizing and managing contractors where required
- Support maintenance and troubleshooting of SCADA data interfaces
Grid Code and Cyber Security Compliance
- Support Grid Code compliance through monitoring and maintenance of critical control systems, interfaces, and TSO/DSO data provision systems
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards by regularly assessing I&C systems for vulnerabilities, applying security updates or implementing remediation measures

- Expert knowledge of PLC operation, programming and management (Schneider and Rockwell)
- Expert knowledge of a broad range of communication protocols used in Industrial Systems (OPC DA/UA, Modbus, IEC60870-5-104, IEC61850)
- Able to manage 3rd party service contracts
- Proficient in creating technical documentation
- Basic understanding of electrical schematics (single and multi-line diagrams)
- Basic understanding of IT/OT networks
Desirable
- Knowledge of PLC operation, programming and management (Omron and Siemens)
- Ladder programming experience
- Knowledge of other communication protocols used in Industrial Systems (MQTT, DNP3, Omron Fins)
- Knowledge of renewable energy SCADA systems
Essential
Relevant Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience in designing, implementing, and deploying Industrial I&C systems
- Experience integrating I&C data with SCADA systems, databases, and other business platforms
- Track record of I&C projects, including planning, execution, and documentation
Desirable
- Worked for 3 years or more for renewable energy companies with wind or solar plants
- Implemented plant control for compliance with UK Grid Balancing Mechanism regulation
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices
Essential
Language Skills
- Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic or Automation and Control)
- Fluent in English
Desirable
- Able to communicate in other languages as Portuguese, French, Spanish or Italian
Travel Requirements
Frequent travel across sites in the UK, and occasional travel in Europe, will be required.
