Introduction
Are you looking for a role where you can use your existing practical, organisational and communication skills to contribute to the smooth running of a key function of our Quality Assurance team?
This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain knowledge and experience of working in a regulated environment, along with a real sense of responsibility that allows you to be a key member of the QA team.
The role
The UK Calibration Administrator's primary role is to maintain Cambridge Consultants calibration system in the UK, so that instruments needed for project work are in a good state of repair and are accurate. The role includes ensuring that Cambridge Consultants' extensive portfolio of test and measurement equipment maintains its calibration status, working with suitably qualified test houses to secure excellent and competitive calibration services, helping Cambridge Consultants staff to locate the equipment they need, advising staff on the availability of equipment, working with project teams and lab guardians to ensure that equipment is taken out of service for calibration, servicing or repair in a timely manner and with minimal disruption.
The role is wholly office-based and not suitable for someone wanting to hybrid-work. The role is best suited to someone who is comfortable operating in a lab environment and has an appreciation of or interest in what test and measurement equipment is for.
Responsibilities
As Calibration Administrator you will work closely with other members of the QA group and lab users from across the company. Your responsibilities will include:
- maintaining a database of test and measurement equipment
- placing orders for equipment calibration, servicing and repair
- ensuring equipment is calibrated by the due date, or a concession raised
- tracking expenditures on calibration, servicing and repair
- scanning the location of test and measurement equipment across the facility
- keeping the core calibration procedure and supporting processes up to date
- supporting quality audits of calibration processes, ensuring records are well organised
The Calibration Administrator will take the initiative in communicating with colleagues on the viability of repairs and applying sensible limits on costs. Dilligence will be applied in ensuring calibration and servicing are concluded according to schedules and quality requirements.
Minimum Requirements
- To meet the requirements of this role you need to be highly organised and able to perform tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
- You must be methodical and capable of planning activities well in advance as we should not normally experience items of equipment being overdue their calibration, servicing schedules should always be adhered to, and concession notes should be raised only when absolutely unavoidable. Equipment scanning should be regularly performed, and expenditure on calibration, servicing and repair needs to be tracked with up-to-date information being readily available on request for budgeting and planning purposes.
- Strong preference for candidates experienced in working with or previously managing a portfolio of test and measurement equipment.
- Excellent communication skills are essential for you to be able to communicate effectively and persuasively with engineering and support staff. When holding this role you will be expected to become fully familiar with the supporting procedures and able to communicate in an audit environment how you perform the role in line with calibration processes, including the provision of associated records as evidence to support this. The expectation is that there will be no external audit nonconformities resulting directly from a failure to follow our current processes.
- You should have, or be able to quickly acquire, a basic appreciation of the QA requirements underlying our certified quality management system (ISO 9001 and ISO 13485) in respect of measurement traceability.
