Job Title: Calibrations Engineer

Position Summary:

Thermo Fisher Scientific is searching for a talented Calibrations Engineer to join our top-tier team. As part of this role, you will operate in a closely monitored environment with innovative technology, ensuring optimal performance of our equipment. You will collaborate with motivated peers and spearhead continuous improvement projects to successfully carry out our mission. Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed calibration and maintenance of laboratory and manufacturing equipment.
  • Determine and troubleshoot issues with a methodical approach.
  • Manage and supervise external contractors to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Successfully implement capital expenditure projects from start to finish.
  • Apply continuous improvement tools and techniques such as Kaizen, 5S, and GMP.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on equipment breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
  • Improve performance against important metrics set for the department and company as a whole.
  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Educational background equivalent to GCSE or higher.
  • City & Guilds/BTEC ONC in Mechanical/Process Engineering.
  • Desirable: HNC/HND in Operations and Maintenance or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Desirable: Electrical proficiency.
  • Proven experience in FMCG Pharma/Food industry within a process or packing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated involvement and delivery in improvement projects.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Flexible, conscientious, and capable of exemplifying standard methodologies.
  • Must live within a 1-hour commute and participate in an On-call Rota.
  • Completion of a full 5-year employment check is required.
