Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a registered Health & Social Care professional to join the CAMH School In-Reach Service. You will work directly with education teams of teaching and non-teaching staff in schools across Flintshire and Wrexham to enhance the support already provided by our specialist CAMHS colleagues and other stakeholders.

We are hoping to recruit experienced practitioner/s permanently to contribute to strengthening the mental health knowledge and skills of education staff working in the 147 schools across Flintshire and Wrexham.

You will be based working from home and will have access to an area hub office.

As an Education Mental Health Practitioner, you will be responsible for providing direct CAMHS mental health consultation, advice, guidance and training to education staff and provide indirect support to the learners attending schools within a given area.

Main duties of the job

The ability to speak Welsh and drive/travel across the two counties is desirable for the service. Please note if you are unable to work full time, alternative working patterns will be considered.

Please note this post is predominately working with adults, working indirectly with children through the provision of consultation, and strengthening the capacity of education staff to respond to the emerging mental health needs of children and young people, a knowledge and/or experience of working with people across the life span would be an advantage.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Relevant professional Qualification and Registration
  • Eligible to practice under the mental health measure Wales 2010. This includes registered mental health nurses, social workers, occupational therapist, dieticians, physiotherapists, learning disability nurses, and speech & language therapists.
  • Experienced registered health and social care practitioners such as youth workers, school nurses, paediatric nurses, who meet the other essential criteria.
  • Post grad diploma or relevant knowledge, training and experience in the specialist field acquired through specialist training and on the job experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of mental health problems and disorders
  • Excellent knowledge of family dynamics and issues relating to working with families
  • Understanding of relevant therapeutic approaches
  • Knowledge and appreciation of national policies

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of further training in psychological interventions / therapy.
  • Training in delivery of programmes designed for mental health promotion and/or early interventions
  • Formal qualification in a relevant field e.g. Child Development, Mental Health etc
  • Understanding of multi- disciplinary services structures and inter-agency working
  • Knowledge of specific disorders / conditions relevant to CAMHS

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Previous experience working at band 5 or 6 or equivalent in relevant area of work.
  • Significant experience of working with the primary care client group.
  • Good understanding of mental health assessment, risk assessment and management.
  • Good understanding of multi-disciplinary and community work.
  • Experience of delivering mental health training across a range of service areas
  • Experience in providing consultation in relation to emotional well-being and mental health.

  • Previous experience in the community
