Cardiac Services Manager (Full-Time)
Location: Duchy Hospital, Cornwall
Hours: Full-Time 37.5 hours
Reporting to: Head of Clinical Services or Delegate

Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cardiac Services Manager to join our team at Duchy Hospital. This is a key leadership position responsible for the operational and clinical management of cardiology services, including diagnostics, outpatient care, and interventional procedures. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on clinical delivery, with a strong focus on quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and service performance.
Whether you are delivering advanced diagnostics or leading multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure that our cardiology service remains efficient, safe, and centred around the needs of our patients.
Key Responsibilities
Service Leadership
- Lead the operational delivery and strategic development of cardiology services to ensure safe, high-quality, and patient-centred care.
- Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and service efficiency in line with Ramsay’s private healthcare standards.
Clinical Excellence & Diagnostic Delivery
- Perform advanced echocardiography and angiography procedures to BSE standards and local protocols.
- Oversee diagnostic and interventional cardiac services, ensuring clinical accuracy, timely access, and patient safety.
- Ensure adherence to best practice and national clinical standards.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the key liaison for internal teams, consultants, patients, and external partners.
- Champion the cardiology service across the hospital and within the broader healthcare network.
Service Planning & Optimisation
- Plan and coordinate outpatient and catheterisation lab (Cath Lab) services to maximise efficiency and patient flow.
- Analyse service data and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to inform resource allocation, scheduling, and workflow optimisation.
Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration
- Promote cohesive teamwork between clinical and non-clinical staff to enhance patient outcomes.
- Ensure clear, effective communication across all stakeholders, including patients and their families.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with CQC standards, internal Ramsay policies, and all relevant clinical governance frameworks.
- Manage incident reporting, audit participation, and adherence to national registries such as the Implant Registry.
Health, Safety & Equipment
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, infection prevention, and equipment safety in all cardiology areas.
Financial & Performance Management
- Monitor and manage departmental performance using KPIs for revenue, activity, efficiency, outcomes, and satisfaction.
- Drive cost-effective practices while maintaining high standards of patient care.
Measurable Outcomes
- Achievement of financial and activity-related KPIs.
- Compliance with clinical audits and regulatory standards.
- Improvement in patient satisfaction and staff engagement (Ramsay People Survey).
- Reduction in waiting times and service optimisation.
- Participation and compliance with relevant clinical registries and reporting processes.
Essential
Qualifications & Selection Criteria
- RCCP Registration
- BSE (British Society of Echocardiography) Accreditation
- Proven leadership in healthcare services with experience managing clinical teams or services.
- In-depth understanding of cardiology workflows, diagnostic services, and interventional procedures.
- Strong analytical skills with experience using data and KPIs to drive decisions.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and team collaboration skills.
- Thorough knowledge of CQC standards, governance frameworks, and relevant healthcare regulations.
Desirable
- Accreditation with one or more of the following professional bodies:
- SCST – Society for Cardiological Science and Technology
- BPEG – British Pacing and Electrophysiology Group
- HRS – Heart Rhythm Society
- BSE – British Society of Echocardiography (additional or extended competencies)
- Recognised management qualification (e.g., Diploma in Management)
