Job Description
We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated
Marine Cargo Underwriter to join our Lloyd’s wholesale operation,
Chubb Global Markets. This role is a key part of our Marine Cargo team, where you will handle a diverse product mix across both new business and renewals in a dynamic face-to-face and online trading environment.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving portfolio growth by building strong relationships with key brokers and clients while maintaining and developing an existing portfolio of accounts. This position requires a proactive, results-driven individual who thrives in a collaborative team environment but is equally capable of working independently under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieving Financial Goals
- Underwrite new business and renewals in line with defined underwriting guidelines, specified budgets, and the local business plan.
- Ensuring Broker Facility Integrity
- Maintain quality control within your area of responsibility by conducting quantitative underwriting reviews, hosting regular meetings, and participating in peer reviews.
- Product Development
- Contribute to the development of innovative products within your area of expertise to enhance client retention and attract new business.
- Collaborate with peers across business lines in Europe and globally to drive product improvements.
- Producer and Client Management
- Represent and promote Chubb to brokers, internal stakeholders, and external clients.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key producers and clients, monitor business acquisition and retention, and maximize cross-selling opportunities.
- Adherence to Procedures
- Ensure compliance with company standards, including policy documentation, quoting timeframes for new and renewal business, and regulatory requirements.
- Acting as a Chubb Representative
- Serve as a professional ambassador for Chubb, maintaining regular contact with internal colleagues, brokers, and major clients to strengthen relationships and promote the company’s values.
Qualifications
Skills & Experience Required
- Underwriting Expertise: Proven underwriting experience in Marine Cargo product lines.
- Market Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of Corporate or Lloyd’s underwriting practices, the insurance market, and competitors.
- Broker and Client Management: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients.
- Results-Driven: Self-motivated with the ability to make decisions independently and work on your own initiative.
- Professionalism: A polished professional who is actively building their external profile.
- Qualifications: ACII qualification preferred but not essential.
- Continuous Development: Committed to developing technical expertise and broader business skills.
