Ways of working:

You’ll be based at our Union building which is in the centre of Manchester, opposite the town hall.

This role is predominantly office based, working closely with the wider Cash Finance and Transactional finance team, in a vibrant, collaborative working environment.

The role is 20 hours per week for a 9 month fixed term contract to cover maternity - ideally you’ll work 8am - 12pm Monday to Friday, but we can be flexible within reason around this.

What we’re looking for:

• We don’t require prior experience, we’re looking for finance minded individuals - whether that be through employment or education, with a keen interest to learn and take pride in their work.
• The ability to use excel effectively - VLookups and Pivot tables would be advantageous.

What you’ll be doing:

• Daily download of bank statements from multiple online banking system
• Completion of daily cash postings, ad-hoc journal postings and banking of customer receipts on our Accounting system.
• Reconciliation of bank accounts according to reconciliation timetable.
• Clearing cash from our suspense accounts and posting to the correct customer, supplier or GL account, regularly working with colleagues in the Credit Control Team
• Processing ad-hoc payment requests in the banks and liaising with our colleagues in our Finance Support & Accounts Payable teams to ensure these are all paid and posted in the required timescales.
• Processing of staff expenses including query resolution.
• Assisting with month end and quarter end finance activity including balance sheet recs.
