To help always deliver the highest possible standard of patient catering for patients working in accordance with departmental HACCP procedures and current food safety legislation. Manage and deliver effective and efficient services that meet agreed Trust policies and procedures.
To review and plan innovative service solutions in a vibrant and demanding NHS environment – continuously striving to improve our services. To ensure the hospital has a reputation for its high-quality Catering service.
To contribute to the delivery of a quality Catering service to all patients to the hospital by providing professional leadership and direction Assistant Duty Managers, ensuring that the requirements and standards laid down by the Trust are maintained.
The post holder will need to be fully aware of the Trust’s Values & Behaviours initiative and act accordingly.
To ensure that catering is managed according to agreed schedules within
designated areas.
Ensure catering and food service areas are cleaned appropriately, checked and signed off by Assistant Duty Managers.
Ensure designated areas are staffed appropriately at all times and wherever possible initial absences must be covered by the Assistant Duty Manager.
Work with the Senior Duty Catering Manager/Food Safety Manager to plan and amend work schedules/staffing levels to meet fluctuating service activity/demands.
Management of staff working rosters and adherence to budgetary constraints
Highlight any perceived need for staff overtime and bank expenditure to the Senior Duty Catering Manager/Food Safety Manager for approval.
Assist the Senior Duty Catering Manager/Food Safety Manager in the recruitment and selection of staff to ensure staff levels meet service requirements.
Manage initial stages of sickness absence, disciplinary and grievance action, in accordance with the relevant HR policies.
Complete appraisals for Catering staff and agree Personal Development Plans. Ensure that the minimum appraisal compliance targets set by the Trust are met by the Catering department.
Promote a safe working environment within Catering, ensuring the safe use and storage of all equipment and materials.
To work and ensure that all Catering staff work in accordance with Food Safety legislation, Health & Safety Guidelines and Trust/Departmental policies and procedures always.
