The role is for a business focused Site Reliability Engineer with strong experience in supporting IT environments using different tooling and technologies. The individual filling this role will be a business focused problem solver with a desire to learn and closely partner with highly engaged production Risk, Operations, Customer Success and IT Development teams to maintain the smooth running of CDSClear application and infrastructure.
The role will be based in London. Strong verbal and written English skills are required with an ability to interact on a daily basis with users based in Paris.
Shift work to cover US clearing hours or end of day batches will be required though the model for this is expected to evolve over time and further regional build out is expected to reduce the requirement for this over time.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide Level 2 IT support for the CDSClear business, including hands-on assistance with internally developed trade management and risk systems.
- Collaborate closely with stakeholders, business analysts, developers, and QA teams to advance the CDSClear project roadmap, including support for UAT environments.
- Participate in an out-of-hours on-call support rota.
- As part of an ongoing initiative to extend clearing sessions to align with expanded US trading hours, the Site Reliability Engineer will be scheduled for late shifts until 22:30 UKT, subject to change as the global support model evolves.
- Actively manage all CDSClear production and UAT environments to meet SLAs agreed with stakeholders.
- Take ownership of and ensure seamless end-to-end daily support for all CDSClear-related and adjacent applications and infrastructure.
- Engage with key stakeholders—CDSClear First Line Risk, Operations, and Customer Success teams—to ensure their functional requirements are met across both production and test environments. Coordinate with IT teams to align on production events and ensure all IT-related tasks are planned and executed.
- Maintain and enforce standard team procedures before, during, and after daily clearing sessions to meet service levels expected by LCH Members and Clients.
- Oversee the daily availability and performance of all CDSClear test environments (IUA, EUA), ensuring all production applications meet performance benchmarks.
- Monitor team activity and ensure effective workload distribution across BAU, projects, shifts, on-call duties, and business events to align with stakeholder priorities.
- Lead the planning and execution of Disaster Recovery tests and ensure compliance with Business Continuity standards.
- Manage incidents with timely escalation and coordination, ensuring swift resolution and remediation across all stakeholders.
- Oversee change management for CDSClear applications, ensuring alignment with the firm’s change calendar and adherence to quality gates prior to deployment.
- Drive a continuous improvement program to enhance production stability and operational efficiency. Represent IT in change governance forums, advocate for prioritized enhancements with strong business cases, and collaborate with development teams to improve release automation using LSEG-approved DevOps tools.
- Lead capacity management efforts, enhancing monitoring tools to ensure infrastructure scales in line with business growth, including increased volumes, new products, and services.
- Maintain hands-on expertise with technologies supporting the CDSClear IT estate, including Unix, SQL, Control-M, Web Services, and Networking. Familiarity with AWS is a plus.
- Coordinate IT risk management activities for the CDSClear Information System, addressing risk appetite actions and internal audit recommendations in collaboration with development teams.
- Ensure the IT Support team engages with Information Security to address vulnerabilities in applications and infrastructure, and that appropriate remediation actions are taken.
Skills required:
- Demonstrates a strong sense of ownership and accountability in all responsibilities.
- Proven experience across the entire IT delivery lifecycle, from technical analysis and development to testing, within large, multi-platform, cross-border financial institutions.
- Solid background in front-to-back OTC trade management or risk application environments, with a clear understanding of the OTC derivatives trade lifecycle and common issues impacting batch and intraday processing.
- Experienced in supporting custom-built IT stacks operating on Unix servers with Oracle databases, with a track record of either hands-on troubleshooting or leading teams to resolve complex technical issues.
- Capable of providing strong technical leadership and guidance.
- Skilled in managing conflicting stakeholder priorities while maintaining focus on business objectives.
- Brings an entrepreneurial mindset, self-motivation, and high levels of energy and enthusiasm.
- Committed to automating manual processes to drive operational efficiency.
- Familiar with ITIL standards and best practices.
- Extensive experience in production support, with the ability to lead and organize teams effectively, while knowing when to delegate or escalate to cross-functional or development teams.
- A collaborative team player, comfortable working in multicultural and geographically distributed teams.
- Knowledgeable in Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
- Understands monitoring principles and can configure enterprise monitoring tools, with a preference for experience using Datadog.
Preferred skills:
- Experience with Public Cloud infrastructure on AWS
- Familiarity with supporting Java application processes
- Unix Scripting, SQL, Control-M, Datadog monitoring and Automation tooling
- Good problem solving and communication skill
- Well verse with the ITIL standards
- Credit derivative knowledge relevant to trade life cycle and risk management.
- Good cross-functional understanding of financial topics to lead & drive some of its strategic growth initiatives.
