General
Role: Ceded Reinsurance Manager
Division: Ceded Reinsurance
Reports To: As per Beazley’s organisation chart
Key Relationships: Business units, reinsurers, brokers, ceded reinsurance colleagues and finance
Job Summary: Combine detailed knowledge of business requirements with market knowledge and problem solving skills to pro-actively and creatively support delivery of the businesses reinsurance needs
Key Responsibilities
Provide proactive support to the Head of Ceded Reinsurance in the execution of her remit.
Specific Responsibilities Include
Reinsurance Buying
- Develop an understanding of current and likely future reinsurance needs of the business units.
- Support the Head of Ceded Reinsurance and business units with reinsurance aspects of the business planning process.
- Support the Head of Ceded reinsurance’s relationship management activity with brokers, reinsurers and internal stakeholders.
- Prepare renewal submissions and marketing presentations.
- Manage the whole buying process for certain reinsurance programmes as agreed with the Head of Ceded Reinsurance.
- Manage liaison with the Technical Administration Unit to ensure the effective post-placement handover of all contracts.
Operations
- Risk management: maintain a system to ensure appropriate sign off from all relevant parties at every stage of the reinsurance purchasing process.
- Manage the performance framework in respect of all placement activity to ensure that all targets are being met / exceeded.
- Own the reinsurance spend forecasting for Specialty Risks and Cyber Risks for current and forthcoming year.
- Regulatory returns - e.g, Lloyd’s returns.
Counterparty Security
- Prepare and present papers for the Group’s monthly Security Committee.
- Respond to business unit security queries.
- Manage the counterparty security framework to ensure that analysis is accurate and timely.
- Propose solutions to ensure that the counterparty security framework continues to be strengthened.
- Develop an interactive relationship with broker security analysts, in particular Gallagher Re Market Security.
- Develop a detailed understanding of the key drivers of counterparty credit issues through appropriate research and effective networking.
