ActionAid UK is part of a global Federation working alongside women and girls on the frontlines of poverty, inequality and injustice. With a strong base of regular supporters and a growing commitment to long-term, flexible funding, we work in solidarity with movements and organisations leading the fight for gender, economic and climate justice.
We are now entering an important new chapter. Our strategy is rooted in feminist principles, anti-racism and decolonisation and we’re excited about the opportunities this creates to work more deeply and accountably with those driving systemic change. Like many organisations, we’ve had to make difficult decisions to ensure long-term sustainability, but those changes have laid the foundations for a more focused and values-led future.
We’re now seeking a Chair who can help us deliver on this ambition. Someone who brings fresh insight and strong governance, and who can help us navigate the road ahead while staying true to our purpose and principles.
The role of Chair is central to this work. You will lead the Board in supporting and challenging the executive, creating the conditions for inclusive decision-making, and ensuring that we remain accountable to our values, our people and our mission. You will also play a connecting and ambassadorial role across the ActionAid Federation, helping to build strong relationships and shared leadership across borders.
We are looking for someone with a clear commitment to social justice, expressed through an understanding of feminist leadership, anti-racism and decolonisation. You will bring strong governance experience, a confident grasp of organisational risk and culture, and the ability to bring people together around a shared vision. Compassion, clarity and curiosity will be just as important as formal credentials.
This is an opportunity to shape the future of a globally connected, values-driven organisation working at the heart of feminist change. If that excites you, we very much look forward to hearing from you.
