We're recruiting for an exciting opportunity to join our Solicitor’s team within AXA’s Legal Services Unit (LSU). Forming part of the wider Claims Technical Services, the Legal Services Unit is responsible for managing litigated claims for and on behalf of AXA and its policyholders.
You'll be responsible for supervising and managing the conduct of litigation within the Unit, building capability and competency levels, and ensuring all regulatory requirements are met, including compliance with all relevant regulations applicable to the Unit.
At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least 40% of your week away from home, moving to the majority of your working week from September 2025. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events.

What you’ll be doing:
- Guiding, motivating and developing the Unit, to ensure cases are closed fairly and in keeping with the Claims Division’s key strategic priorities of; Indemnity Spend and Efficiency, Customer and People Capability.
- Driving people development, improve claims handling and ensure a culture of continuous improvement, supported by robust MI, trend analysis and shared learnings.
- Continually reviewing approaches, tools, effectiveness and materials considering more virtual settings.
- Developing and maintaining best practice material.
- Identifying and managing wasted effort and address curiosity and problem solving across the Unit.
- Being close to and ‘ahead of the curve’ for market activities and trends that could affect the Unit e.g. regulatory changes.
- Supporting, implementing and embedding the pillars of the People Charter.
- Identifying individual training needs and development opportunities both within the Unit and our wider stakeholders.
- Ensuring failure is identified and investigated.
- Evidencing progress against self-directed learning.
- Ensuring training, development, and any associated coaching and mentoring ensures the right decision is made in the right way to achieve the right outcome for the customer.
- Managing and supporting a portfolio of complex cases and referrals.
- Producing, maintaining and conducting regulatory training for an on behalf of the Unit and any required key stakeholders.
- Calibrating unit audits in accordance with the Ted Development Framework.
- Identifying and mitigating risk relating to regulatory compliance.
- Providing legal services and advice.
- Role modelling and helping embed the Unit’s behavioural objectives as a Senior member of the team.

What you’ll bring:
- CILEX or equivalent Solicitor qualification, significant PQE and relevant insurance and motor claims experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Technical expertise, with the ability to make commercial decisions.
- Feedback and coaching/training skills.
- Strong people and communication skills.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of the Civil Procedural rules, principles of insurance, relevant case law, products, policies and claims philosophy.
