What You’ll Do
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious dishes using fresh ingredients and NHS menu plans
- Cater for dietary needs and special diets with care and creativity
- Maintain the highest hygiene and food safety standards
- Contribute to menu development and new ideas for patient and staff meals
- Support occasional hospitality and function catering
- Assisting with stock control, storage, temperature checks, and kitchen cleanliness.
- Contributing to menu development and improving patient and staff meal offerings

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 or NVQ equivalent
- Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene
Desirable criteria
- Intermediate Certificate in Food Hygiene
- Knowledge of HACCP
Experience
Essential criteria
- Career structure that shows a logical progression to a chef position in a similar size and/or NHS catering operation
- Experience of working in a service led and customer focused environment
Desirable criteria
- Experience with both the commercial food service sector and/or an NHS catering operation
Skills
Essential criteria
- Good knowledge of Food Safety/Kitchen Hygiene.
- Ability to work efficiently and to time
- Organised and methodical
