About The Position
Product and Engineering is looking for a
Chief Infrastructure Architect to play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure infrastructure solutions that bridge both on-premises and cloud environments. You will lead our strategy for physical and cloud networking, and drive our orchestration platform initiatives (such as Kubernetes), ensuring seamless integration and high availability for our mission-critical applications. You will be a strategic partner to our Security and FinOps teams to deliver the highest levels of security and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee the enterprise infrastructure architecture, focusing on both physical (on-premises) and cloud (AWS) networking strategies.
- Design and implement orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes), establishing standards for deployment, scalability, and security.
- Lead hybrid cloud initiatives, ensuring optimal integration between on-premises data centers and AWS cloud resources.
- Collaborate with software engineering, DevOps, and security teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with application needs and organizational policies.
- Establish and maintain infrastructure documentation for architecture, standards, and procedures.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools that enhance infrastructure reliability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
- Drive automation efforts across provisioning, deployment, and monitoring using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and related tools.
- Ensure robust disaster recovery, failover, and backup strategies are in place across all environments.
- Mentor and guide technical teams on best practices for working in hybrid environments and with orchestration platforms.
Essential Skills And Experience
- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure architecture or related roles.
- In-depth expertise with hybrid cloud environments (on-premises and AWS).
- Strong understanding of networking concepts (routing, firewalls, VPNs, load balancing) across physical and cloud infrastructures.
- Advanced experience with orchestration platforms, especially Kubernetes (K8s), including architecture, deployment, and management.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Experience designing for security, reliability, and scalability in hybrid and cloud environments. In particular IAM policies, network segmentation, AWS Security Policies and understanding of implications of compliance frameworks (SOC2, GDPR, FedRAMP)
- Excellent communication skills—able to document and articulate complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- AWS Solutions Architect certification or equivalent.
- Experience with additional cloud providers (e.g., Azure, GCP).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps culture.
- Background in technical documentation or architecture diagramming.
The base salary range for this position is £140,000 - £210,000 base + benefits. This reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. This position may also be eligible for incentive plans and other related benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. These factors and individual capabilities will also determine the individual pay offered.
