This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to play a central role in the design and development of a new, innovative CAMHS inpatient model for Sussex.

Sussex is entering a pivotal phase of inpatient CAMHS transformation, with a clear ambition to strengthen quality, improve flow, and deliver care that is developmentally informed, trauma-responsive, and fully integrated with community and acute CAMHS pathways, including close working with COAST (Crisis Outreach Acute Support Team).

This role offers the opportunity to genuinely influence how inpatient and intensive CAMHS services are shaped, drawing on best practice, QNIC standards, and system-wide collaboration

You will join an established, supportive multidisciplinary team and work closely with senior clinical and operational leaders across Sussex. We are open to bespoke job planning and flexible working arrangements, including exploring portfolio or shared roles across inpatient and acute CAMHS services where this supports continuity of care and service quality.

🩺 The role

As Consultant Psychiatrist for Chalkhill, you will:

• Provide clinical leadership within a skilled MDT supporting young people 13–18 with complex needs

• Lead formulation, risk management and treatment planning, working closely with families and partner agencies

• Supervise junior doctors and trainees, contributing to teaching, audit and quality improvement

• Work within a supportive and well-established clinical and operational leadership structure

• Participate in the CAMHS Consultant on-call rota (1:9, with compensatory rest)

Permanent, full-time post based at Chalkhill, Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath.
