Overview
London Borough of Harrow is looking to recruit a Child Protection Chair/Independent Reviewing Officer to chair multi-disciplinary child protection conferences. The post holder will be responsible for chairing both Children Looked After (CLA) statutory reviews, as well as Child Protection (CP) Conferences, in addition to ensuring that care plans, child protection plans and timescales reflect the needs of each individual child
You will need to effectively develop practice and provide leadership in driving forward improvements in the quality of multi-agency child protection and looked after planning. Furthermore, you will need knowledge of best practice in working with children and families to ensure that child protection plans are robust, evidence based, and outcome focused. Highly analytical with sound knowledge of relevant legislation, you will also play a central role in monitoring the effectiveness of multi-agency safeguarding practice as well as providing support and advice to Children's Services colleagues.
We are seeking someone who can work closely with other Child Protection and Children Looked After Chairs in evaluating and quality assuring social care practice within the Local Authority. You will be asked to lead on agreed safeguarding projects.
About You
To be successful in this role you would need to have the below skills & experience:
- Monitoring quality of care and planning for both Child Protection and Children Looked After.
- Contribute to policy making and producing procedures or guidance.
- Monitoring standards and outcomes for Child Protection Plans and Children Looked After.
- Case auditing and reporting areas of strengths and areas for improvement to staff and managers.
- To contribute to the rolling programme of inducting and training of staff in respect to Child Protection Conferences and Children Looked After processes.
