About The Role
As a
Children and Families Worker, you’ll play a vital role in supporting children and young people who are affected by familial substance use. You’ll take a holistic, person-centred approach — offering one-to-one and group-based interventions that meet young people where they are and help them move forward with confidence.
Working in close partnership with our adult services, you’ll deliver
whole family interventions, contribute to
safety planning, and support
safeguarding, ensuring families receive joined-up care that leads to positive and sustainable outcomes.
Key responsibilities include
- Identifying and engaging families — in partnership with other agencies — who would benefit from a Think Family / Whole Family approach.
- Supporting children and young people through a wide range of interventions, tailored to their individual needs.
- Responding promptly and effectively to any safeguarding concerns, working in line with best practice and policy.
- Helping reduce the impact of drug and alcohol use on young people and their communities.
- Promoting holistic wellbeing by supporting young people to build resilience, improve health, and lead safe, purposeful lives.
- Working flexibly across our service sites and out in the community, where needed, to reach and support those who need us most.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who brings
- A passion for working with children and young people
- A creative and empathetic approach, using activities like games, art, and storytelling to build trust
- An understanding of the impact of substance use on families and young people
- A commitment to safeguarding and creating safe, supportive spaces
- The ability to work flexibly across Liverpool in the community
To excel in this role, you will bring
- Experience working with children and young people, along with a strong awareness of the challenges they may face in today’s world.
- A clear understanding of safeguarding, particularly in relation to children and young people, including familiarity with the Gillick Competence framework.
- Knowledge of drug and alcohol-related issues, and experience working in a related field — ideally supporting individuals or families affected by substance use.
- An evidence-based approach to practice, with an understanding of young people’s substance misuse treatment methods and current best practice guidance.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with confidence using digital systems to record, report, and manage information.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and meet reporting deadlines.
- A collaborative mindset, with strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented approach to supporting shared service goals.
Benefits include
- 1 hour a week (pro-rata if part time) wellbeing hour for your own wellbeing or professional development, enhanced annual leave and other benefits
- other benefits Change Grow Live employee benefits
