Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day care and supervision for children and young people aged 5-18.
- Support children with emotional and behavioural needs, including those with trauma backgrounds.
- Assist with daily routines such as meals, hygiene, school runs, and recreational activities.
- Build trusting relationships and act as a positive role model.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to care plans and reviews.
- Work collaboratively with social workers, therapists, and other professionals.
- Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Shift Pattern
- 12-hour shifts (e.g., 8am-8pm or 8pm-8am)
- 3-4 days per week on a rolling rota
- Includes weekends and public holidays on a rotational basis
Requirements
- Previous experience in a care or support role (children's residential care preferred)
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) or willingness to work towards it
- Enhanced DBS check (required prior to employment)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations
