An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the busy Children’s Community Nursing Team as a Children’s Community Nurse to cover a 12-month maternity leave. The successful candidate will embrace the challenge of working across different environments to meet diverse service user need. This is an excellent opportunity to work as an autonomous practitioner, gaining knowledge across an array of specialties and strengthening multi-professional working relationships. It is a role whereby excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail and professional curiosity is paramount.
As part of our recruitment process, it is hoped that you will also be meeting with our Youth Panel. The session with the panel will last approximately 15 minutes. During this panel, you will meet with young people who have a passion for improving services here at University Hospitals Plymouth. This initiative is part of an exciting new pilot project at UHP - our first youth panel of its kind. We are committed to ensuring that the voices of young people are heard and meaningfully contribute to decisions that affect them.
To provide a specialist community nursing service for children with acute and ongoing care needs within residential and educational settings.
- The post holder provides education, advice and support throughout a child’s illness, from diagnosis, through times of change or crisis, to discharge, transfer to adult services or, if appropriate, through terminal care and bereavement.
- The post holder will empower and support families to manage their Child’s condition at home thus avoiding or minimising hospital admissions.
- The post holder will be a generic children’s community nurse but may develop specialist knowledge in a field and also provide nursing support within specialist schools so children can access education.
***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***
