Are you an experienced senior social worker looking for a challenging and rewarding role? Kirklees Council is seeking a dedicated professional to join our Emergency Duty Team (EDT) to provide urgent safeguarding and social care for children.

About The Emergency Duty Team

The Emergency Duty Service ensures that Kirklees Council can fulfil its statutory duties to provide urgent safeguarding and social care services outside of office hours. Our team operates with the highest standards of practice to ensure that individuals in crisis receive the support they need promptly and effectively.

Role Requirements

As an experienced senior social worker, you will:

  • Work across service areas independently, prioritising your workload and taking initiative.
  • Operate within the boundaries of codes of practice and practice standards.
  • Have excellent knowledge of children's safeguarding and the ability to provide services during out-of-office hours.
  • Assess the urgency of service requests and respond appropriately to ensure children are not left at risk.
  • Record events clearly and concisely, working closely with partners such as the police, health services, foster carers, and senior managers.

Qualifications And Experience

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Be Social Work qualified practitioner and SWE registered,
  • Have significant experience working with children, young people, and their parents/carers.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of relevant legislation and the ability to apply it in practice.
  • Be able to transfer your knowledge and skills into new situations effectively.
  • Have IT skills to support accurate and timely case recording.
  • Hold a full and valid driving licence, and be able to use a car for travel, which is essential for this role. (Exceptions may be made for disabled applicants).
