Department Overview
The CIO function oversees group-wide technology, operations and our data office. We’re aligned to our key businesses across the group and operate enterprise-wide functions for risk management, governance and controls, supply chain and infrastructure. Our purpose is to support Nomura’s business strategy and deliver consistent group-wide services based on common operating principles.
Nomura is looking for a Global Business Manager to join the CIO Business Management team. The candidate will report to the Global CIO Business Manager and work closely with the Group CIO office, Global Operations and Technology Business Managers, and our Business Management Shared Services team, across all regions.
Role Overview / Responsibilities
- Drive global, group wide business management initiatives, identifying opportunities to standardize, optimize and improve processes and reporting across CIO
- Govern global CIO Headcount against targets and plan, establishing and monitoring headcount against group-wide commitments and regional workforce requirements
- Manage, analyze and supporting reporting on annual and monthly financials in partnership with Finance, supporting annual budgeting and monthly forecasting
- Prepare executive level reports and presentations for senior stakeholders, including CIO, Global Head of CIO Business Management and CIO Chief of Staff
- Assist with ad hoc / day-to-day requests, including providing coverage for the Global CIO Business Manager and Regional EMEA CIO Business Manager as needed
- Provide business management services including financial management, workforce management, vendor management and strategic adviory services for central CIO functions:
o Produce monthly financial reports, including explains for variances and tracking of P&L to plan
o Review month end accruals, prepayments and postings to ensure accurate monthly financials
o Review purchase / spend requests for adherence to budget
o Manage cost and project allocation process to facilitate accurate cost dispersments, ensuring appropriate review and sign off with the business
o Monitor workforce plan, including hiring pipeline vs budget, joiner/leaver process in coordination with HR
o Oversee vendor and sourcing process, ensuring delivery against commitments and budgets
o Ensure group compliance for mandatory training, appraisals, timesheets, etc
Skills & Experience
- Execution – Detail-oriented and structured in approach to prioritization, analysis, planning and reporting; Able to multi-task, manage multiple projects and work under pressure to deliver high-quality outcomes
- Motivation – Sets high standards for self and others with a strong desire to overachieve on agreed objectives
- Service Framework – Leverages, supports and builds shared services to deliver globally consistent output and reporting using global source, enterprise data
- Stakeholder Management – Team player with good communication skills, able to work effectively with team members of all levels across regions and time zones
- Financial Management – Experience with forecasting and budgeing; confident with concepts of Cash, P&L, Capitalisation and Accruals; Ability to analyze and present financial reports
- Analysis and Process Improvement – Demonstrates problem solving skills and experience driving efficiency, exposure to AI tools and techniques to increase productivity
- Tools – Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Apptio/TCO; Strong Excel capability with confidence managing large and complex datasets (Pivot Tables, Data Tables, Power Query, formulas, etc.)
- Presentation & Communications – Ability to develop and build executive level story lines and presentations, clear communicator
Desired Credentials
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, Organizational Behavior or similar
- Several years’ experience (VP level) in a technology analysis / business management role, or internships
