Job Purpose
You will provide civil engineering support including design and technical engineering advice to all areas of UU. The main areas are likely to be the capital programme, asset diversion and protection, operational support and studies & investigations.
You will be responsible for the delivery of a range of projects, studies and investigations throughout UU, including data gathering and analysis, design, preparation of documents, drawings and specifications, review of proposals by others and providing advice and responses to other team members
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Contributing and leading the technical Civil Engineering design of water and wastewater infrastructure and assets.
- Engage in collaborative efforts with internal teams, ensuring project delivery aligns with client expectations and technical standards.
- Provide authoritative engineering guidance and manage project lifecycles, from data analysis to contractual documentation and technical review.
- Promote the company's technical prowess within the industry by contributing to national engineering standards and supporting educational outreach.
Continuing personal professional development, working towards chartered status
Technical Skills & Experience
- Working knowledge and experience of capital and strategic civil engineering projects in highly technical and commercial environments.
- Experience gained by delivering projects across the complete project lifecycle from needs to concept and feasibility through to detailed design, technical assurance, testing & commissioning and final handover.
- Understanding of construction industry best practice (including UK and International technical policy, strategy, standards and codes of practice).
- Experience in writing technical reports and presenting to audiences of varying technical expertise.
- Experience of working to company standards, procedures and technologies.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- Qualified to degree level/HND equivalent or have equivalent skills, knowledge and experience
- Hold a current UK/EU driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications
- Evidence of working towards and a plan in place for attaining Chartered/Incorporated Engineer status
