Job Purpose
As Civil/Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for working independently and carrying out the design, analysis, and management of engineering projects.
This role involves working closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver technically sound and compliant projects.
This role will provide opportunities for involvement and skill development in client liaison and project management, encompassing both time and budget management.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Undertake preliminary and detailed designs for engineering projects
- Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Perform structural analysis and ensure compliance with engineering standards.
- Assist in the preparation of fee/tender proposals
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct site visits and inspections
- Ensure compliance with design and safety standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Contractors and Clients, on projects
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and communication with stakeholders.
- Provide technical support to junior and graduate engineers.
Person Specification
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ICE or IStructE accredited course
A 2:1 (or equivalent) degree classification or above
Demonstrate commitment to undertake continuous professional development towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineering status.
Evidence of continuous professional development progress towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineering status.
Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (in English).
Ability to work effectively with the Microsoft suite of programs, such as Word, Excel & PowerPoint
Proficiency in design and analysis, and any associated software
Strong understanding of design codes and standards.
Good communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to manage tasks and work within deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to comply with Quality Assurance Management Systems.
Experience
Minimum 2 years experience, preferably with a professional background in rail-based projects.

Additional Responsibilities
A full clean driving license would be an advantage
Sentinel Track Safety – PTS holder
Familiar with Autodesk (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and Bentley (MicroStation) software.
Due to the nature of this role, site work, overnight or weekend work may be required.
