Sompo has a unique opportunity for a
Claims Technician in our Claims Operations team in our UK business.
In this role, you’ll have oversight of our claims governance and technical claims handling performance, ensuring appropriate controls and monitoring are in place so that we remain compliant with our regulatory obligations and drive excellence and consistency in our claims handling across all lines of business.
Location: This position will be based out of our

What You’ll Be Doing
- Handle and reconcile claims bordereaux submitted by coverholders and TPAs.
- Input, validate and maintain bordereaux data within internal systems and claims platforms.
- Ensure bordereaux are received on a timely basis and are compliant with contract terms, internal standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with Underwriting Operations, Finance, and Claims Managers to ensure smooth data flow and resolution of discrepancies.
- Prepare regular bordereaux and claims management information reports.
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring documentation and data accuracy.
- Maintain effective communication with coverholders, TPAs, and other stakeholders.
- Produce claims experiences for brokers and underwriters.
- Process joiners, movers and leavers within the claims systems, including maintaining authority levels.
- Process London Market messages and resolve issues.
- Assist in the administration of the Claims Operations mailbox.
- Process first notification of loss communications, including acknowledging receipt and allocating to the appropriate claims adjuster or team.
- Assist with general claims administrative support.
What You’ll Bring
- Common sense, pragmatic approach.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and document handling
- Proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple things at once and prioritise accordingly.
- Ideally, previous experience of claims processes and insurance products.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data validation etc).
- Experience of producing both regular and ad-hoc reports.
- Experience of London Market insurance is an advantage.
- Experience of using insurance claims systems – particularly Guidewire ClaimCenter, ECF, CLASS – is an advantage.
