Main duties of the job
The eye emergency team at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) are delighted to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity for a patient focussed, friendly and enthusiastic individual.
Join our small, busy Eye Emergency team to deliver excellent reception and administrative support. You’ll be the first point of contact for walk‑in emergency and urgent eye care patients in a fast‑paced clinical setting.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
Our department is open 7 days a week and so some weekend and bank holiday working should be expected. Our usual shifts are 7.30am to 8pm. Confidence in learning and using multiple IT systems is essential and experience in a front facing reception role would be desirable.

Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience
Essential criteria
- Literacy and numeracy skills, demonstrable to GCSE - grades 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 or grades A*, A, B, C (or equivalent)
- Good keyboard skills and basic computer literacy skills.
- Experience in a busy working environment.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- An understanding of confidentiality issues.
- Friendly, approachable and sympathetic manner.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
Desirable criteria
- Previous hospital or health service experience.
- Experience of using eCaMIS.
- Office experience.
- Previous experience within a ‘customer care’ role.
