Main duties of the job
PICU Education team are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated nurse who is interested in providing clinical support and education within the clinical environment. We care for children requiring Paediatric Critical Care Level 3 from across the regional network. This is a 6 month fixed term contract to cover a secondment.
You will work alongside our friendly, supportive education, nursing and other specialist teams to facilitate the learning and practice development of registered nursing staff working in this highly specialised unit. You will also be involved in the planning and delivery of education days.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
This role is suited to any registered nurse with significant experience working within PICU and with a passion for education. A Paediatric Critical Care Level 3 (PICU) Course qualification is an essential requirement.
This post will involve fostering an inclusive learning environment through working collaboratively with a range of learners in practice.
It is expected the post holder will be able to provide constructive feedback to learners and use coaching and mentoring to support staff with their professional development. Recognition and understanding of the changing needs of the unit must be considered and supported when planning and implementing education activities.

Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience
Essential criteria
- Professional requirements e.g. Registered Nurse or Registered Professional or Non-registered support worker etc.
- Professional knowledge acquired through degree education or equivalent experience
- Mentoring / coaching / education qualification to postgraduate diploma level or equivalent evidence of supporting learners in practice.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Significant experience within relevant field
- Experience of educating others in a formal or informal setting
- Broad awareness of Trust initiatives/pressures
Desirable criteria
- Education at a master's degree level
- Further education at a master's degree level in relevant practice area
- Leadership qualification or significant equivalent experience
- Previous Band 6 experience
- Further evidence of speciality competence
