Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Fellow in Accident & Emergency Ophthalmology. These posts are designed to support Moorfields emergency ophthalmology services at City Road and Moorfields Satellite Sites, whilst providing opportunities to gain sub-specialist training in a specialty.
The posts are offered on a fixed-term basis of 12 months which will include sessions predominantly at the A&E department in City Road, with potential sessions at Moorfields Satellite sites. Sessions in speciality clinics will also be offered, which will be discussed with candidates based on their preference. Previous fellows have undertaken sessions in: Medical Retina/Uveitis, Neuro Ophthalmology, Adnexal, External disease, Vitreoretinal Surgery, Glaucoma. Please note these sessions will be NON surgical.
In addition, successful candidates will contribute to 1 in 4 weekend rota in A&E at City Road, as well as some evening shift work in A&E. The majority of sessions will be during standard 9-5 working hours.
Main duties
- Diagnosis and management of in/outpatients
- Management of urgent cases presenting at any time during the week.
- Supervision of junior medical staff and participation in informal and formal teaching.
- There will be opportunities for undertaking research and audit.
- Participation in a 1:4 weekend rota
