Job Overview
As a Clinical Healthcare Support Worker you will be a core member of the team delivering personal care, both clinical and non-clinical, to patients. You’ll also be key in supporting patients with their own self-care and independence. To assist in patient care and other ward/department related duties under the supervision of the trained nurse.
This is a busy role so you will be working together with your team to balance different tasks that often change.
Main duties of the job
Your Daily Duties Will Be Varied To Include
- blood pressure monitoring
- oxygen saturation levels
- body temperature
- pulse rate and respiration rate
- glucose monitoring,
- collection and testing of urine, faecal and sputum samples
- wound swabs
- removal of catheters
- venepuncture
- recording your actions accurately in patient note

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- A Qualifications and credit framework ( QCF) Level 3. This could be an NVQ, BTEC or equivalent international qualification in health/social care.
- Able to demonstrate knowledge and skills gained through the equivalent level of employment experience.
- Care certificate
Desirable criteria
- competent in venepuncture
Knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Able to understand and communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
- Numerical and analytic skills to do patient observations
- previous experience working in health care with stroke patients
- Able to work in a team environment
- Have a customer-focused approach which is essential to providing patients with the best possible experience and working together with colleagues and other teams across the Trust
- Basic but essential IT skills to access required systems such as electronic patient records
Desirable criteria
- Experience working as a health care support worker

- Good written and verbal communication skills in the English language
