We are expanding our team of Clinical Healthcare Support Workers within our amazing childrens ward and were inviting caring, compassionate people who are happy to work as part of a large and inclusive team to join us.
If you're kind, caring and passionate about making a positive difference to others, this role could be for you. Our Clinical Health Care Support Workers are integral to our nursing team. Are you motivated and enjoy the challenges of helping to look after children and young people? If your answer is yes, then this could be the job for you. Shifts on the Children's ward would follow the usual ward shift pattern.
The ideal candidate for the role will have an interest and passion in providing care for children and young people, both their physical and mental health. Being a member of the care team, you will gain additionally skills in communication and therapeutic engagement with young people who have difficulties directly communicating their care needs.
No previous healthcare experience is necessary. We provide all the training you need before you start working on the Childrens Ward. You will start on our induction programme to help you settle into the Royal United Hospitals Bath and you will learn the skills you need to do this role, and we will start you working towards achieving the Care Certificate (if you do not already hold this qualification).
Our Clinical Healthcare Support Workers are integral to the Childrens Ward. It takes flexibility, commitment and compassion, but in return we can offer you a rewarding career.
You will start our healthcare support worker induction programme to learn the skills you need to be confident and competent to do this role, and we will start you working towards achieving the Care Certificate, if you do not already hold this qualification.
You will be supporting registered nurses to deliver high quality, compassionate health care to children and young people in accordance with assessed needs and a care plan.
Duties
This is a busy role so you will be working together with your team to balance different tasks that often change. Your daily duties will be varied to include:
- monitoring blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and body temperature
- supporting children and young people during and their stay in hospital
- liaising with families
- monitoring food and fluid intake
- communication and conflict de-escalation
- supporting young person with mental health challenges
- childrens safeguarding
- eating disorder meal support
- recording your actions accurately in patient notes
Working as part of a team and on your own , you will draw from your knowledge , skills and experience .
