Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist for Lung Cancer and Mesothelioma.
1 WTE. Divided between the lung cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist role (22.5 hours/week) and the mesothelioma clinical nurse specialist role (15 hours/week).(2 years fixed term with anticipation that recurrent funding will be secured on an ongoing basis.)
The post-holder will work as a CNS covering both lung cancer and Mesothelioma, delivering an expert, specialist service to patients and families across Barts Health. The role requires the post holder to work flexibly between lung cancer patients and mesothelioma patients. The post holder will actively manage patient caseload; provide support and assessment to patients; initiate actions required; liaise with the medical team, allied health professionals and community team. You will be required to participate in education, research, audit, quality improvement projects and professional activities relating to lung cancer and Mesothelioma.
As a cancer nurse specialist working in an over 900-year-old teaching hospital in the City of London, you will not lack experience or excitement!
Although the hospital is located a five-minute walk from St Paul’s Cathedral, you will provide care and support to the most diverse population. You will be involved in the whole lung cancer or Mesothelioma pathway from diagnostic to treatment, to end of life.
Apart from meeting the standard requirement of this post, you will also have a great opportunity to initiate and implement quality improvement projects whilst gaining advanced research knowledge in one of the largest cancer centres. You will also participate in and lead on nurse led clinics and services.
