We are pleased to offer a 12-month fixed-term opportunity for an enthusiastic and dedicated Sonographer to join our team at Darent Valley Hospital, covering maternity leave.

This role is ideal for someone with proven experience and a specialised interest in early pregnancy and gynaecological ultrasound. You will be joining a supportive and skilled unit, working in an area that can be highly rewarding but also emotionally challenging.

We are looking for a compassionate professional with excellent communication skills and the ability to provide high-quality care in what can be a very sensitive and emotive clinical area.

The post holder will be able to deal empathetically and supportively with patients and clients using appropriate verbal and/or written information to ensure their understanding and co-operation.

Clinical Responsibilities: to include level of responsibility for:

1.1 Work autonomously in an imaging role within the ultrasound department.

1.2 Responsible for reporting on ultrasound examinations as appropriate.

1.3 Use clinical judgement for the care of patients, as to the optimum technique, selection of equipment and other parameters.

1.4 Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings where appropriate.

1.5 Take part in the department’s Quality Assurance programme including regular testing of ultrasound equipment.

1.6 Be aware of the principles of clinical governance and ensure that working practices conform to these principles. Work flexibly within the department in order to ensure effective use of resources and equipment

Plan, assess, deliver and evaluate own workload in close association with clinical lead.

Perform detailed Ultrasound examinations early pregnancy obstetric and gynaecology, subject to appropriate skills.

Refer to Gynaecoloogy Nurse Consultant /Lead Consultant for a second opinion when required.
