An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Practitioner Psychologist to join our new Hillside Secure Children's Home In reach MDT as part of Swansea Bay CAMHS. This post is graded at 8a, but newly qualified or soon to qualify psychologists are encouraged to apply and can be appointed to a band 7-8a preceptorship.

The Hillside MDT will be professionally led by a Consultant Practitioner Psychologist and include AHP, Medicine and Systemic Family Therapy provision alongside this position.

The expectation is that each child will have a psychological formulation and care and treatment plan, and the team will work with Hillside staff to ensure plans are applied in practice in a trauma informed way.

There will therefore be opportunity for direct and indirect working to ensure that staff are well supported and enabled to meet the needs of the children and families linked to Hillside. The post holder will also have opportunity to deliver direct psychological interventions as per Matrics Plant.

We have a strong and thriving professional Child Psychology network within Swansea Bay University Health Board, led by a well-respected Professional Lead Psychologist, alongside Consultant CAMHS and Paediatric Psychology positions with Psychologist posts at all career grades working together to meet the needs of the Swansea Bay population.

The post holder will work alongside the MDT providing into the Hillside Secure Children's Home, and will be supervised and supported by the Consultant Psychology lead for the team.

They will be expected to provide psychological assessments, develop formulations with children, families, Hillside Staff and the MDT to feed into care and treatment plans. They will be expected to deliver evidence based psychological interventions as per formulation.

This opportunity will afford them direct and indirect clinical work, allowing them to offer a range of psychological interventions to the children, young people, their families and networks. They will be expected to partner with Hillside staff and the MDT to ensure that the care plans are applied in practice and that staff are robustly supported and enabled to meet the children and young people's needs to the best of their ability and manage the emotional context in which they work.

The postholder will have opportunities to utilise their research and evaluation skills in helping to ascertain the nature and quality of the provision to help inform continued service development.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The post is an 8a post but newly qualified, or soon to qualify, psychologists are also encouraged to apply and can be appointed to a Band 7 in a preceptorship role. This means the post holder would be paid on a Band 7 salary and would have a development plan in place to progress to having the competencies required for the 8a post. They would be supported to develop their competencies, and evidence this, and would then be appointed to the 8a.

The exact details of the role will evolve in collaboration with the post holder, the Lead Hillside Psychologist and the needs of the service, alongside developments across the MDT.
