Can you bring your skills to help people with chronic pain to improve their quality of life via high quality evidence-based rehabilitation? Would you enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team, with a varied job role?
A band 7 (preceptorship) or 8A Practitioner Psychologist post has arisen in our large pain management service; which comprises psychologists, medical consultants, physiotherapists, specialist nurses, and an administration team. Within the pathway, psychologists offer detailed assessment which informs a range of interventions including individual treatment (often working jointly with colleagues), and a range of interdisciplinary group treatments of differing intensity. Our orientation is broadly cognitive-behavioural. There is opportunity for contact with the wider Clinical Health Psychology service, and to undertake service evaluation, audit and research. A range of CPD opportunities are available, including structured preceptorship for Band 7 candidates.
This post offers much to psychologists keen to develop a career in physical health work:
- Close working with a team of pain psychologists across the career span
- Supervision with a highly experienced pain psychologist; and leadership & professional support from a consultant psychologist in the Pain Centre and a senior consultant psychologist who is Head of Service across Pain and Clinical Health Psychology
- Membership of a large group of psychologists and clinical neuropsychologists who work across a range of specialities
- Direct clinical work, and other psychology roles including teaching, training, research, consultation and supervision; enabling you to develop your skills across all areas of practice.
- Investment and support in your development, via in-house development activities and support for external CPD
- Experience in physical health or pain work is welcome but not required. If you bring enthusiasm and flexibility, we will support you in developing your skills in this field
