The Therapy department at UHCW are looking for a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapy Team Leader to work alongside our Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapy Team Leader in managing and leading the Care of the Elderly (COE) Therapy team providing services across the elderly care wards. You will require good all-round knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the diverse caseload and have the respiratory skills to support at a ward-based level, including patients on the rib fracture pathway.
The COE team supports 4 wards. The primary function of the therapy team is to promote patient recovery and rehabilitation whilst supporting hospital flow. This requires creative solutions to supporting patients often who are frail and have multiple comorbidities including cognitive impairment.
As a Team Leader position, you will be responsible for the supervision and development of the COE team, including working with other agencies to promote quality patient care.
The role requires participation in weekend and bank holiday rotas.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
- Provide a highly specialist, high standard therapy service, assessing and advising on patients care & treatment, as an autonomous practitioner within the defined patient group.
- Be a clinical lead for the therapy staff across the service area providing clinical supervision and training, liaising with other appropriate Therapy leads to ensure an integrated service is provided for the service area
- Ensure development of junior staff through supervision, training and annual appraisal.
- Participate in the planning, development and evaluation of clinical practice & service development within area.
- Contribute to the maintenance and development of the Trust Therapy service.
- Take a lead for information management to ensure high quality data which is recorded, evaluated & reported in a timely manner.
- Provide knowledge and expertise on the Physiotherapy assessment and management of a broad range of medical conditions, including respiratory.
- To participate in 7-day working patterns, including Bank Holidays.
