Job Responsibilities
Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Senior CNC Setter the CNC Setter/Operator will be first response to any minor automated issues that affect CNC operation on shift. The CNC Setter Operator will also be responsible for dealing with issues on the downstream line, including but not limited to SHL cells and the straightening presses. A core member of the team, you will be responsible for the processing of castings on site, whilst ensuring a safe working environment is maintained, and customer satisfaction being the goal in terms of meeting high quality standards. You will have experience with ABB robots, CNC’s, straightening presses and be able to train operators to required standard on these processes.
Role Responsibilities
This role entails but is not limited to: -
- Guarantee a safe working environment.
- Ensure all production processes conform to current quality standards.
- Manufacture parts in time to satisfy customer demand.
- Strive to improve production processes.
- Part of a team to investigate root cause analysis of production process downtime and implement corrective actions.
- Be competent in running CNC’s.
- Monitor CMM / GOM reports for any quality issues.
- Making offsets to maintain hole positions in line with quality reports.
- Recover the CNC machines from faults and report any issues.
- Change broken tools and check the hole size with the correct gauges.
- Changing fixtures.
- Carry out TPM’s on CNC machines and fixtures.
- Use heat shrink and gauge length machines to set tool lengths.
- Recovery of ABB robots from an emergency stop position and operation of all aspects of the automated lines.
- Other related duties as determined by the Production Manager/ Senior Setter or Shift Supervisor.
Experience
Essential:
- Proven Experience of Setting & Operating CNC Machines.
- Experience of problem solving
- Use of 5S to improve production environment.
- Understanding of KPI’s to track performance.
- ABB robot operation and programming
Desirable
- Experience within castings sector
- IOSH Qualification
- Tier 1 automotive supply
- CNC Specific training packages
- Training of team members
- Experience of straightening presses
- Experience of Automation lines
